She has found success placing thrillers, literary suspense, Young Adult and upmarket fiction and is actively seeking her next great client in those genres, but is passionate about anything with a unique voice. Barbara is also the author of Funny You Should Ask: Mostly Serious Answers to Mostly Serious Questions About the Publishing Industry (Jan, 2020) based on her Writer's Digest column of the same name.

On this episode, the Crew goes behind the scenes with rising talent Shawn S.A. Cosby. S.A. Cosby is an Anthony award winning writer from Southeastern Virginia. His short fiction has appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines. His story "Slant-Six" was selected as a Distinguished Story in Best American MysteryStories for 2016. And his short story "The Grass Beneath My Feet" won the Anthony award for best short story in 2019. His writing has been called "gritty and heartbreaking" and "dark, thrilling and tragic."
His style and tone is influenced by his varied life experiences which includes but are not limited to being a bouncer, construction worker, retail manager and for six hours a mascot for a major fast food chain inside the world's hottest costume. When Shawn isn't crafting tales of murder and mayhem he works as a mortician's assistant.

The author of 10 consecutive New York Times best sellers and former advertising executive, Ted Bell began his advertising career in the 1970’s as a junior copywriter at Doyle Dane Bernbach (DDB), New York. At the age of 25, he sold his first screenplay to Hollywood, as well as became the youngest vice-president in the storied history of DDB. In 1982, he joined Leo Burnett Co., Chicago, as a creative director. Four years later, at the age of 40, he was named President, Chief Creative Officer where he was credited with developing numerous innovative and award-winning advertising campaigns. In 1982, Bell joined Young & Rubicam, London, and in 1991 became the Vice Chairman and Worldwide Creative Director. Bell has won every award the advertising industry offers, including numerous Clios and Cannes Gold Lions, and while at Young & Rubicam, the Grand Prix at the Cannes Festival. In 2001, Bell retired to write full time. He has 10 consecutive New York Times Bestsellers to his credit: The Alex Hawke series of spy thrillers published by HarperCollins and the young adult targeted time travel adventure series, Nick of Timeand The Time Pirate published by St. Martins Press.
